Bio
I didn't come into this through a computer science degree. From January 2010 to February 2016 I ran First Shot Studio, a wedding photography business in Pietermaritzburg. Clients needed websites, so I started taking WordPress apart and learning how it worked.
When my son was born I moved into software full time. Before the first developer role I worked as a financial advisor at Hereford Group, then as an account manager on energy portfolios at Smarter Business in the UK. Useful for talking to clients. Not the job I wanted to stay in.
I work from Johannesburg. The day-to-day stack is Vue and Nuxt, PHP with Laravel and Symfony, TypeScript, and Python when the backend needs it. I picked up a Symfony 4 Level 1 certificate along the way.
Since June 2026 I've been Software Engineering Team Lead at Storyteq, in Johannesburg.
